How can I borrow materials from the Mediacentrum?
You can borrow materials by means of self-service. To do so, you need your Mediacentrum card or your student card (university registration card). Click here to see how you can request one.

How many books can I borrow?
You can borrow up to 15 items. These include books, magazines, journals or other materials.

How long can I borrow items?
Most items can be borrowed for a period of up to three weeks. Day loans must be returned the next day after you borrowed them. Books on the list of mandatory literature are also available from the Mediacentrum. There is one copy of all these books that cannot be borrowed, so that every student or member of staff can consult it on location. If a second copy is available, it can be borrowed for one day.

Can I work on a computer in the Mediacentrum?
A number of desktop computers are available in the Mediacentrum for students to use.

Do you provide software for surveys and research?
For simple questionnaires, you can use Forms(opens in new tab), part of Microsoft 365.
Do you want more features? Then you can use Qualtrics. For this, you do need to apply for an account first.

Does this entail any costs?
Windesheim staff and students can borrow items at no cost.

What happens if I return items too late?
If you return items too late, you will be fined €0.50 per book per day. For day loans, the fine amounts to €2.00 per book per day.
If you fail to respond to the three reminders you will be sent, the claim is transferred to a collection agency. They will send you an invoice charging a fine and collection costs (a minimum of €44) in addition to the costs of the borrowed items. In that case, you can no longer return the items.
Have you lost books? Then we will charge you the costs of the relevant items.
Items can also be returned outside of opening hours, via the letterbox next to the entrance on the ground floor.

How do I pay in the Mediacentrum?
Outstanding amounts can be paid by PIN at the payment terminal in the Mediacentrum.
You can also pay by means of iDEAL. To do so, you must log onto our catalogue(opens in new tab) and go to the "your charges" section of your profile page.

Can I book items?
All items, with the exception of day loans, can be booked for free by means of the catalogue(opens in new tab), button Verlengen/Reserveren (Extend/Book). You will receive an email from us as soon as your booked item is ready for collection.

Can I extend the loan term of items I have borrowed?
Yes, you can extend the loan term up to 10 times, by logging onto the catalogue(opens in new tab), button Verlengen/Reserveren (Extend/Book).
Please note: you can only extend items that have not been booked. The loan term of day loans cannot be extended.

The Mediacentrum does not have what I am looking for! What should I do now?
Take a look at Worldcat(opens in new tab). This is worldwide catalogue of library collections.
You can then request a book (or article) via IBL (Interbibliothecair Leenverkeer, a service for interlibrary loans). Here you can find more information about how IBL works.

Do you have a question that requires more time? For example, about your literature review or about source citation according to APA, copyright or publishing? Then you can make an appointment with InfoWijzer. You can do so by sending an e-mail to mediacentrum@windesheim.nl(opens in new tab). The appointments can be scheduled on working days between 9am and 4pm and take place online or in the Mediacentrum (location Windesheim in Zwolle).
