Frequently asked questions
How can I borrow materials from the Mediacentrum?
How many books can I borrow?
You can borrow up to 15 items. These include books, magazines, journals or other materials.
How long can I borrow items?
Most items can be borrowed for a period of up to three weeks. Day loans must be returned the next day after you borrowed them. Books on the list of mandatory literature are also available from the Mediacentrum. There is one copy of all these books that cannot be borrowed, so that every student or member of staff can consult it on location. If a second copy is available, it can be borrowed for one day.
Can I read the ebooks on my smartphone or tablet?
Yes, that's possible! However, there are a few things to keep in mind.
- The ebooks we offer are available on various websites (platforms), and not all of them are equally suitable for mobile use. Some platforms provide their own apps for reading ebooks. Below, you'll find an overview of the possibilities.
- The layout of the ebook is usually not adapted to your screen, which means you may need to scroll and zoom more when reading.
- You can usually view ebooks online but may not be able to download them.
- Most books come with a limited simultaneous access license, so a book may not always be available.

Does this entail any costs?
Windesheim staff and students can borrow items at no cost.
What happens if I return items too late?
If you return items too late, you will be fined €0.50 per book per day. For day loans, the fine amounts to €2.00 per book per day.
If you fail to respond to the three reminders you will be sent, the claim is transferred to a collection agency. They will send you an invoice charging a fine and collection costs (a minimum of €44) in addition to the costs of the borrowed items. In that case, you can no longer return the items.
Have you lost books? Then we will charge you the costs of the relevant items.
Items can also be returned outside of opening hours, via the letterbox next to the entrance on the ground floor.
