  3. Exhibition Sylvia van Polen-Port

In X0 - in the hallway leading to OnCampus - you’ll now find a special exhibition by artist (and Windesheim staff member) Sylvia van Polen-Port, also known as PortArt from Zwolle. This exhibition combines her earlier works, previously displayed at Windesheim, with her new paintings.

Sylvia has been painting on canvas since 2014. As a self-taught artist, she developed her own style through courses, lots of experimentation, and self-study. She paints what she feels drawn to and what brings her joy. Her early works mainly focused on portraits and studies of legs, while her current large canvases are filled with flowers (see photo). These flower paintings, often commissioned and already sold, are not included in this exhibition. Alongside her personal projects, Sylvia also accepts commissions, painting anything from animals and nature to street scenes and portraits. Her techniques vary from palette knife to brush or other methods, and – with few exceptions – she exclusively uses acrylic paint. While her earlier pieces were often painted on cotton canvases, she now works exclusively on linen.

Come and see Sylvia’s work in X0, and scan the QR codes next to the paintings for more information! Her work is also displayed at the Eigen Inspiratiestudio in Hattem, on Instagram(opens in new tab), and on her website(opens in new tab).
